Frequently asked questions

This FAQ section compiles the most frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers regarding our pricing and the payment process.
If you have any additional questions or require further clarification, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to assist you!

1. Do you offer a free trial to test Smart Scribe?

Yes, we offer a 15-minute free trial for our automatic transcription service to help you determine if it fulfills your transcription needs.

To enjoy this trial, simply sign up and confirm your email address. You will then receive 15 minutes of automatic transcription credited to your Smart Scribe account. You don’t need to provide your credit card details to activate the free trial.

Please note this trial is limited to a single use per individual, household, or company.

Be advised that any fraudulent attempts to obtain multiple free trials will result in a permanent ban and deletion of all the accounts and transcripts created on Smart Scribe.

2. Do you provide volume discounts?

Yes, the more transcription hours you purchase, the lower the price you get.

We start to offer a discount of 10% on the standard price per hour when you purchase more than 5 hours, and you can enjoy an impressive 30% discount and pay only 7€ per hour of automatic transcription if you place an order of 100 hours or more.

This is our way to reward you for choosing Smart Scribe to transcribe your audio and video files.

3. Does the transcription time I purchase expire?

No, the automatic transcription time is valid for a lifetime and does not expire after a while. The number of hours of automatic transcription you purchase is immediately credited to your available transcription time, which will never expire until you use it.

4. How do you count the transcription time I use?

Every time you upload an audio or video file to automatically convert to text, Smart Scribe calculates its duration down to the second. We then deduct the transcribed file’s length in seconds from your available automatic transcription time. Although your available automatic transcription time is rounded and displayed in minutes, we track the transcription time consumed in seconds, and you can follow the exact time consumed by each transcript in the My Account > Usage section.

5. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payments by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and SEPA Direct Debit through Stripe, a secure third-party payment processor.

We recommend payment by credit card, as the transcription hours purchased will be credited immediately to your account.

If you decide to pay by bank transfer, we will wait for the funds to arrive to credit your account, which generally takes a couple of days.

6. How is my payment information protected?

All payment transactions are securely processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certified third-party processor. Stripe employs advanced encryption and security protocols to protect sensitive customer data and payment information.

7. Do you generate invoices?

Yes, of course. We generate an invoice each time you purchase automatic transcription time. You can access all your invoices in the My account > Orders section on Smart Scribe.

8. Why does the VAT not appear on my invoice?

Smart Scribe belongs to Mr. Stéphane Héquet, an individual entrepreneur registered with the RCS of Tours (SIRET 53241847200017). As part of the ‘VAT exemption scheme’, the individual entrepreneur is not liable for VAT. Therefore, VAT is not applicable as per Article 293 B of the General Tax Code, and this is why VAT does not appear on the invoices.
